A root canal is the natural cavity within the center of the tooth. Inside this canal is the pulp chamber, which houses nerves, blood vessels, and connective tissue. When the pulp becomes infected or inflamed due to deep decay, cracks, or trauma, it needs to be removed to prevent further complications. 🛠️ Steps of Root Canal Treatment: Diagnosis & X-rays: The dentist takes X-rays to see the shape of the canals and check for infection in the surrounding bone. Anesthesia: Local anesthesia is administered to numb the tooth. Pulp Removal: The dentist drills into the tooth and removes the diseased pulp. Cleaning & Shaping: The canals are cleaned, disinfected, and shaped for filling. Filling: The canals are filled with a rubber-like material (gutta-percha). Sealing: The tooth is sealed with a temporary or permanent filling. Crown Placement (if needed): A crown may be placed later to protect the treated tooth.
